Backstage Omikron

Hitting the streets tomorrow is the latest issue of Omikron magazine, featuring a cover story we shot of the actress Elia Ioannidou. It was nice to do a pretty shoot with some of the new spring collections. oh so bright! oh so floral! oh so not my style! but oh well, it can't all be vomgirl related ey?

Bike Crew BBQ, a prelude

The delightful bike crew decided to throw a little barbeque the past weekend, it was a brilliant of course. Preluding the bbq we did a bit of pre-party planning and shopping (locally of course, because apparently we are hipsters). And then we hung about in the beautiful overgrown garden being silly.

σιδεβοοβ VS υνδερβοοβ

As you all know I am more than a little partial to flashing the σιδεβοοβ, my most flattering boob angle. However, it has come to my attention that 2013 seems to be over the σιδεβοοβ, and totes into the υνδερβοοβ. From celebrities in designer dresses on the red carpet, to chubbster teens in crop-tops (no one needs to see that much of you love, buy a bigger top), the υνδερβοοβ phenomenon is sweeping the world. And I'm totes not down with it.

For me, the appeal of the σιδεβοοβ is its' subtlety (when executed correctly). It is sexualizing an area of a woman's body which isn't usually on show, it is a hint of skin, an understated crescent of boob. I feel much more confident and sexy with a hint of σιδεβοοβ on show rather than the mainstream "full cleave" (probably because that's a look that I can't achieve without a lot of push-up help). So I really can't comprehend the attraction of the υνδερβοοβ, it kind of just looks like your boobs are one small bounce away from breaking free out the bottom of your top. Plus, you need to have pretty pert perfect boobs to be able to accomplish the look with any degree of subtlety. But I guess this look isn't so much about being subtle. It's more like, hey, look at my boobs, I simply didn't have enough fabric to cover them fully, and wearing a bra would just be absurd, so take a gander at my υνδερβοοβ.

The main υνδερβοοβ offender is Rihanna. I guess it's down to her flawless genes that she manages to pull off flashing boob all over town.
She's not a shy girl when it comes to υνδερβοοβ. Then you've got Beyonce on the cover of GQ (which must mean this is an actual trend, ahem)
Subtly υνδερβοοβυ
Anyway, I feel like I've talked about boobs for far too long on a non porn-esque site. So I'll stop, and remain resolutely and staunchly in favour of the (perhaps now very passé, oh-so 2012) σιδεβοοβ. And you readers, what is your boob preference in the σιδε VS υνδερ debate? Where do you stand on this pressing and ultimately pointless discussion? Answers on a postcard

getting ready to go out

So here I am home alone on a friday night, it's been quite a long time since that's occurred. I forgot how fun it can be getting all sparkled up while listening to music and dancing like a tit around the house. I hope everyone's weekends are off to a great start, pump up some music and get out of the house!

mmmbackstage

I think it's been rather a long while since I've done a photo-shoot related post, so here we go. This serves mainly to remind you that I actually do work and don't just spend my time jet-setting to far-flung places and being generally amazeballs. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting the actor Marios Demetriou for the upcoming issue of Omikron Magazine. It was a fun shoot as we got to be really random and outlandish and not the usual pretty/styley/perfect/posey. I had two lovely friends helping me out as extra's, and they got into character so well, as did Marios who took to his villainous role with exceptional ease. I was also blown away by my make up artist of the day, Crystal Michael, who I had the pleasure of working with for the first time. She really brought the characters to life and complemented the styling perfectly. Also, I found a giraffe. So that was cool too.
Hope you enjoy the pics and check out the full shoot in the next Omikron

how'd you like mah teefs?

So uhm, I guess girls have somewhat of a reputation when it comes to shopping, and whoever has seen my wardrobe room knows that I am no stranger to a spot of retail therapy. But lately I seem to have become a lot more selective or picky about what I decide to buy or not. I might see something I like, and in the past wouldn't have stopped to consider whether or not to buy it, I'd already be matching it up into outfits in my head, but now something peculiar has come over me. I actually stop and think before whipping out my wallet - do I really need this? Do I love it, am I actually totes in love with it, or is it just a passing crush, can I justify buying it or do I just want it? Don't get me wrong, it's always nice to have something you just *really* want (you may recall my miumiu sparkly trainers), but I think I'm just starting to put more value on things in the long term rather than the short term rush of a new impulse purchase.

This little prelude brings us round to my recent trip. Considering I hadn't been to London in over two years I was a little worried that I was going to go shopping crazy before even getting to Buenos Aires...which led to me not actually really buying anything at all. But then, slightly disappointingly (but good for my bank balance), I didn't really find all that much in Argentina either. Days of walking round markets, malls, and boutiques resulted in - one vest (very nice) and a pair of shorts (I wore jeans that day and it was hot, so somewhat a necessity purchase) and a delightful necklace...made of teeth. I know it's seriously disgusting in it's amazingness, I just totally fell for it, found in a random jumble of a shop in the mercado of San Telmo, and had to have it. Even the man in the shop seemed a bit surprised that I wanted it. Didn't know what animal it came from. Sold it to me for 40pesos. Awesome.

Hello Buenos Aires

The thing that I was most blown away by in Buenos Aires was the amazing street art. Graffiti, stencils, painting, stickers, they use it all and make it look damn awesome. It's everywhere- from the uber-hipster area's like Palermo (think SoHo in NYC), to the more gritty somewhat-dodge area's like La Boca (where we managed not to get robbed thanks to a local policeman who pointed us in a safer direction).  The streets and buildings are covered in such vibrant colours and style that make it impossible to know which side of the street to look at because there is just so much to take in. An unfortunate side effect of looking up all the time means your eyes are less focused on the pavement, where sadly there is quite large amounts of dog shit. Not so cool.

i like how even though things overlap/differ in style, it all works.
don't get caught with no knickers on ey.
